The Power of Division

Divide each difficulty into as many parts as is feasible and necessary to resolve it. – Rene Descartes

Anthony Robbins would call the above “chunking.”

He would say we should chunk everything down to whatever size necessary to take action on something and complete it.

There’s a lot to what he, and Descartes, say.

The point underlying this, and what is most important here, is that life, writ large, is sometimes overwhelming, but broken down is manageable.

Life is, after all, a series of moments, of hours, or days – not a year, or a particular achievement.

Not staying present to each moment is an easily correctable mistake of focus.

You must know that anything you can break down into doable little bits is achievable.

In fact, that skill is one of the master skills of achievement and living well.

The Voices In Your Head

Is the voice in your head the Voice of Reason (which serves you) or the Voice of Reasons (which acts like it protects you, but really just makes excuses and holds you back)?

I wrote that a while ago and it still holds up.

We have both “voices” in our heads, but one is louder (because we pay more attention to it) and the other weaker (both in volume and authority).

The Voice of Reason sees things clearly and completely.

It sees both the rational and incorporates the emotional.

It’s your voice of Truth

The Voice of Reasons is an impostor.

It’s some combination of Ego, fears and the entreaties of family, friends and (popular) culture.

It doesn’t, won’t and can’t serve you.

Learn to listen for your Voice of Reason.

An amazing life of joy, peace, abundance and truth is waiting for you.

Bit by Bit

Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later. – Og Mandino

Everybody notices the big successes and the epic failures, but few recognize that both are made of myriad choices and non-choices, things you do and don’t do.

Though it might seem it, life is not a smattering of resolutions, it is the little bits that create those points.

Do your best in each moment.

Get clear about what you want so you can make better choices in each moment.

Whatever, and however, you do will come back to you.

The Beauty of Obstacles

If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere. – Frank A. Clark

If you’re not being tested, you’re not growing.

If you’re not growing you’re dying.

If you’re dying, you’re . . . .

What are you?
