Whatever You Do, Don’t

. . . make any New Year’s Resolutions.

They. Don’t. Work.

The whole thing is an artificial construct that only makes you feel about yourself (and gives you a bad impression of goal-setting and achievement).

What should you do instead?

Well, you shouldn’t do anything. (Do things because you clearly and authentically want to do them.)

If you want to get clear on what you want and what’s getting in your way, get a coach.

Maybe me . . . I’m a coach. And I offer free* coaching sessions to help people get clear on what they want and what they need to do to create what they want.

****

* Why “free?” Because I want to 1) help people and 2) I won’t know if we’re a good fit unless we actually talk – and do some actual coaching.

Less than three minutes in to the latest episode of the Good Life Project I heard something that I had to write about. In introducing how he went from soccer-playing college freshman from the ‘burbs to immersed in indigenous Amazonian culture, Tyler Gage talks about how stewardship was part of the language of an indigenous tribe he was “with.” It…

  • A View of Enlightenment

I read recently that the Dalai Lama said that enlightenment is love and insight working together, like wings on a bird. I love this idea because it conjures a rich metaphor for understanding our lives. Neither love or insight alone is enough to live well. Both must come together and act in concert for us to to…
