The Importance of Each, and Every, Little Thing

Right now something amazing is happening in my life.

Something I wanted for a long time.

Something I wasn’t ready for earlier in my life, but am ready for now.

Something really, really special.

But it might not be happening.

There’s a chance that had one tiny thing gone differently in my life, I wouldn’t be here right now, writing about this amazing thing.

I might just be writing some other blog post.

But I’m not.

And I’m thankful.

And I’m grateful.

I’m thankful for this opportunity.

I’m grateful for all that has come before.

There are two key lessons here:

1) Whatever good you have in life is there because of everything that has come before – the good and the bad.

2) Everything matters. (Sure, some things matter a bit more, and should be given their due, but it all adds up, and matters.)

I hope you take this to heart and take some time to reflect on the path that has brought you to where you are today. Be grateful for everything, the good and the (so-called) bad, because it’s all prelude.

Then, with this awareness, choose your next steps with love, kindness and confidence.

Love for yourself.

Kindness for others.

And confidence in the fact that it will all work out.

Character is like a garden. It matters what you plant and how you care for it. You must also regularly weed your “garden,” being mindful of non-resourceful habits (little or big) compromises and your standards.
