The One You’re Always With

Make yourself proud. – Peter W. Smith

Who do you spend the most time with?

Answer: you.

Who is the person whose esteem is most important, to you?

Again: you.

What makes this so powerful for me is when you approach it from a different angle.

Who do you need to trust the most?

Your spouse? Your boss? Your . . . ?

Nope.

It’s you.

Why? For so many reasons, but one of the most important is that if you don’t trust yourself (because you *lie* to yourself, you won’t make any promises worth a damn to yourself)

What do you think the best way is to make yourself proud (of yourself)?

Make promises and keep ’em. The bigger the better.

But if you’ve been breaking promises to yourself, and thus don’t trust yourself, start small. And repeatedly _keep_ the little promises.

Trust lost is not easily regained, but it is possible. Ask yourself how many things you said you would do, but didn’t. You won’t really trust yourself until you make and keep three times that number.

Don’t be discouraged by the volume necessary; be glad for the opportunity.
