The Vital Importance of Learning

“Always desire to learn something useful.” – Sophocles

Learning is vitally important these days. The willingness, and ability, to learn means we understand that the nature of things is change. That we cannot stand still if we want to useful, productive and happy.

Learning though doesn’t need to be all about skills and competencies, it can be learning about ourselves and others. What can you learn about a co-worker? A friend? Your spouse? Or perhaps your child?

Learning is a meta skill, a skill that enables other things. When we are willing to learn we grow in ways beyond just new information or abilities. We participate in life, rather than attempting to merely observe.

Go forth and learn. Be willing to be a student. And do so with an expansive definition of “useful.”
