The Truth Will Set You Free – Part 11 of 20

I recently read a post on Johnny B. Truant’s blog that really hit home. So much so that I wanted to do two things: share it with my readers and 2) think on and write about each piece of his post. The post is “20 Truths About Life No One Wants To Believe” and the next one I am going to tackle is:

11. Nobody is rooting for you to fail. The world isn’t out to get you. There’s no point in pretending that it is. People have their noses so far in their own business that they’re not paying attention to you and your potential failure. You simply don’t matter to them enough to root against. That means you’re free.

I can sum up my thoughts on this brilliant post with the following (which I’ve heard many places):

People are not against you, they are for themselves.

Which leads me to an equally important truth.

As much as you are for others, be for yourself.

Get on your own team.

You are your best advocate.

Create your own winning team (of one, at first) and you’ll be amazed at who joins you.

As Robert Downey, Jr. said: “If you’re not on your own team, why should I be?”*
