First Post

I had toyed with the idea of making the first post on this blog about an idea, or a strategy. The key thing, the most important thing one needs to know and practice to lead an authentic, effective and purposeful life. But I thought better of that. For two reasons really: 1) I was having some trouble coming up with that one, seminal, idea and 2) I knew that within a month or two, or even a week or two, I would probably change my mind about what that idea was.

So, I am just going to write some thoughts about what I want this blog to be, who it’s for and what I hope to accomplish.

Firstly, I want this blog to useful. I want readers to see this as a resource for living and working better. To earn more money, while improving relationships with loved ones. To develop greater capacity, in all areas of life, while enjoying life — and themselves — more. And to understand both ourselves and our world better, while becoming a better person. To reference the blog’s title: to create success, from within.

The intended audience is corporate professionals, business-owners and entrepreneurs in their 30s and 40s (essentially GenXers) who want to create an authentic Vision for their lives and develop the strategies to realize that Vision. And solve whatever problems they have. It’s really hard, or at least it sometimes seems really hard, to discuss stuff like who-is-this-blog for without sounding all mumbo-jumbo’ey, but there it is.

I plan on sharing valuable and useful information, presented in a manner that is easy to understand and apply. I enjoy reading developmental books and those written for business-people have always held special appeal. I prefer books that speak to issues and concerns that real people have and that are backed up by experience and research. In fact, the vast majority of what I present will have it’s origins in validated, empirical research. But most people don’t take the time to read these books. That’s where I come in. I’ll read the books, and some great blogs, and distill it for you. You’ll have access to the same knowledge, strategies and wisdom as my coaching clients. You’ll have to do the work of application and adaptation yourself, but you’ll have much of the same raw material. (And you are certainly welcome to investigate becoming a client, if you find yourself interested . . . .)

Thanks so much for joining me. I plan on posting three times a week, with a mix of types of posts and subjects.

Cheers!
