Everything Is Earned

This is a post from a mentor of mine that I had to share.

I don’t gamble because I don’t want to start thinking I can get something for nothing – everything is earned.

Here is Steve’s post in its entirety:

The whole concept of the lottery is based on what Gandhi insisted was one of life’s true evils: unearned money.  The concept that ruins more businesses and individuals than any other: something for nothing. A bubble-leveraged greed grab for instant financial payoff.

When people begin to tell themselves that money itself is what’s missing in their lives, the lying has begun. Because money is not what’s missing.  What’s missing is the ability to make it and save it. The personal effectiveness is what is missing. The inner strength.

Action builds that strength, and we lie to ourselves to stay out of action.

Live well and prosper,

Steve

It’s not that. It’s just not. There is…

I am interrupting my watching of Seth Godin on Jonathan Fields’ Good Life Project to explore an idea Seth presented. Seth Godin is a huge mentor and teacher for me. I subscribe to his blog updates and have read several of his books. Lately he has been talking a lot about the importance of shipping. Shipping is actually getting things done. It’s finishing stuff and getting it out the door. Shipping is not about perfection,…
