The Power of Division

Divide each difficulty into as many parts as is feasible and necessary to resolve it. – Rene Descartes

Anthony Robbins would call the above “chunking.”

He would say we should chunk everything down to whatever size necessary to take action on something and complete it.

There’s a lot to what he, and Descartes, say.

The point underlying this, and what is most important here, is that life, writ large, is sometimes overwhelming, but broken down is manageable.

Life is, after all, a series of moments, of hours, or days – not a year, or a particular achievement.

Not staying present to each moment is an easily correctable mistake of focus.

You must know that anything you can break down into doable little bits is achievable.

In fact, that skill is one of the master skills of achievement and living well.
