The Power of Internal Dialogue

Never say anything about yourself you do not want to come true. – Brian Tracy

This reminds me of something I’ve heard more than once: if people talked to you the way you sometimes (/often) talk to yourself you’d punch them in the face.

And it’s true.

Our self-talk sometimes (/often) sucks.

And it matters.

What we say to ourselves matters.

Who knows us better than we do? And when we’re saying we’re lazy, or not good enough, who is to say we’re wrong?

No one: because the dialogue is internal.

That’s why it’s so important to speak constructively to ourselves.

Notice I didn’t say positively.

I’m not suggesting we tell ourselves stories (aka lies), only that we make good use of your self-talk.

At very least, stop saying things that would get you punched in the face by yourself.
