The Keys to Success

The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty. – Zig Ziglar

Normally, people think of these things in terms of outward expressions of the above, but what if they were viewed through an inward looking lens?

What if instead of thinking what you need to, or should, do outside of yourself to be successful, you started with you?

Consider the following:

Honesty – what are you not telling yourself the truth about? Anything built on lies or half-truths is doomed to failure. What is something that you need to be honest with yourself about?

Character – what behaviors do you need to stop? What are you doing that you know is less-than-honorable? What are you doing that you would not admire in others?

Faith – what do you need to trust? What is something that you must believe in, first? While it might be a bit scary to have “faith” in something, it may well be necessary to believe in it – first – to create it.

Love – what do you need to fall in love with? Is it hard work? An aspect of yourself? Often, the most important thing you can do is find an unforgiven/unloved part of your Self and make peace with it. What are you worried people might “find out” about you? That’s most likely something you need to illuminate/forgive/release.

Loyalty – what is something that calls out for your sustained attention and love? What requires a long-term commitment? Not a day, or a week, or a month, but sustained, consistent, maybe even intense, attention and commitment?
