Each Day, Start with A Basic Aspiration

One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words. – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I think so many people get caught up the enormity of the challenges they face: the challenges in their personal lives, with family and friends, at work, in the community and the World.

I have a suggestion.

Something to take the “pressure” off and set the stage – every day – for something useful, and potentially wonderful, to happen.

Start, as Geothe suggests with something to nourish your soul. Then say something nice (and true and constructive) to someone.

Make your words a potential catalyst for good.

Then who knows what can happen?

As you get in this habit (and yes, do make it a habit… ), you’ll approach the “challenges” in the World a bit differently.

Over time you’ll be pleased to find that these challenges transform, in large measure, if not completely, into opportunities.

Opportunities for growth, service and contribution.*

* And a life of growth, service and contribution is a truly rewarding and fulfilling life.

  • The Opposite of Creation

In life, the opposite of creation is not destruction, it’s victim-hood. “Huh?” (you may say). In life, we can choose to be responsible for our lives and create through our choices, or play the victim and allow life to wash over us all the while lamenting the unfairness of things and wallowing in passivity. Put another…
