Where Are You Stuck?

There are three places you can be stuck:* the past, the present and the future.

If you’re stuck in the present, then coaching can help you. If you’re stuck in the past or the future, you need something else.

“Stuckness” in the present is easy to fix (relatively speaking . . . ). Generally, getting un-stuck means: 1) getting clear on what you truly want, 2) developing a sound plan for moving towards it, 3) getting-in-action and 4) learning and adapting as you progress. Once you get to the next “level” you repeat the process. (All this assumes, of course, that you have the energy and support necessary — the former comes from the client, the latter from the coach.)

* Being stuck is — at its core — not moving (when you otherwise might be/want-to-be moving). As with most things, there’s a spectrum of stuck and types of stuckness (past, present and future), but stuck is not ideal and certainly sub-optimal. That’s not to say, though, that profound change at a blinding pace is the ideal (it often isn’t), it’s just that not moving is akin to death (in fact, one could define death as the complete absence of movement, at the cellular level).

Where are you stuck? If it’s the present, are you ready to get un-stuck and moving? Refer to the four-step process above, if you need help, get a coach.
